Vice Presidential Debate Open Thread...

Comment here on the Palin-Biden debate.

What are your expectations? How did you think the candidates performed? Who will win/won the debate and why?

I think Palin definitely beat expectations last night. She was smart but sounded down to earth. I think we need to elect a real person to office! She is that real person. Joe Biden had the facts down, sounds great and professional, but sounded definitely too much like a politician. I’d say it was a tie last night as far as the debate was concerned- but Palin probably appealed to more average people.

Tristan, the possibility of Palin performing below expectations was slim to none. She has demonstrated over the past few weeks an astonishing ignorance in almost every single policy area. She did not have a strong showing in the debate last Thursday. She ignored questions from the moderator in order to repeat the same talking points and constantly deflected her ignorance of the material by falling back on folksy charm and the ill-appropriated label of “Maverick”.

As for your assertion that it is time for a “real person” to be elected into office, I am left to wonder what species the last 46 Vice Presidents were.

I agree the expectations for Palin were low anyway. Just because she didn’t fall on her face doesn’t mean she did great. She is not ready for what’s to come. You can’t dodge the questions everytime, and when that time finally comes her lack of experience and ignorance in political areas will show
